Yesterday we went to Mudgeeraba again for our parkrun fix. It was a hot and humid day; at 7am it was already 23 degrees Centigrade. With 167 others we set off on the beautiful, flat course through Darcy Doyle Park.
I tried really hard, but didn't get close to the elusive sub-30 minutes. I finished in 31:22, which was a course PB for me (my previous best time here was 33:20, in January 2019). I'm afraid the time for really fast parkruns may be over for this year - the heat and especially the humidity (70%) make it impossible for me to run at the pace I managed in the winter months, unfortunately. I've been training really hard in the last couple of weeks, doing interval training and long runs early in the morning (around 5.30am), and cross-training on other days (cycling, Pilates and walking), so I think my fitness is at the same level as it was in July, it's just so much harder in these circumstances.
Oh well, I'll just keep training and one day the starts will align and I'll get that sub-30 parkrun...
